Introducing our May Referee of the Month, 𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐞, and our Employee of the Month, 𝐉𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚! 🎉

Kicking things off with Jamie - not only is she a ref, she’s a player on the sand and all-around amazing human. Her energy is magnetic—the kind that lifts the whole room the second she walks in. Jamie doesn’t put on a show—she’s the real deal. Genuine, grounded, and effortlessly cool. She’s been part of our community for just over a year now, but it feels like forever in the best way. If you see her around, soak up some of that Jamie magic—you’ll be better for it.

Next up: Jenna! Originally from Massachusetts, she moved to NC a decade ago and currently teaches 3rd grade at a local charter school. When she’s not shaping young minds or hanging with her pups watching reality TV, you’ll catch her paddleboarding, working out, reading—or of course, at Bill’s!

Jenna dove right in from day one. She’s hard-working, upbeat, and thrives in the fast-paced vibe here. We’re so grateful for the positivity and effort she brings to the team.

𝗖𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 is an engaging, intelligent, kind and hard-working human that you can find at the facility 6-7 days per week from open to close. A recent UNCG grad, he has been in Wilmington for close to a year and has become a key employee in the CB family. He’s another genuine homey that makes this place and community wonderful to be a part of. If he is your ref, do yourself a favor and strike up a conversation, you’ll see immediately what all the hype is about. WARNING, please do not hand him a volleyball, you will NOT get all your games in.

𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗲 has played a variety of roles at Capt’n Bill’s over the years, but she has excelled and proven to be a huge asset as a leader on the kitchen staff. Talk about a reliable employee, she’s the one. She’s always willing to step in and help on short-staffed days. When she’s not working, she’s volunteering somewhere around town. Her heart is bigger than her short stature. She is the person behind the curtain that pulls and donates the lost and found (or what’s left of it after it’s scavenged through). You might also see her running food to the warehouse because she enjoys saying hello and seeing familiar faces. Regardless of where she is around here, she’s working hard and pushing everyone around her to be better. We appreciate her very much!

Meet our Employee of the Month, Maddie!

Maddie is currently enrolled as a full-time student at Cape Fear Community College, pursuing a major in Hospitality Management. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, playing board games, and during the summer months, she loves to go boating.

While working at Capt’n Bill’s, she has found herself loving the opportunity to get to watch everyone play volleyball. She also enjoys coming to work because she likes the fast-paced environment. We are thrilled to have Maddie on the Bill’s team!

A BIG shout out to our Referee of the Month, Zack!

We don’t know if he’s Jesus, but honestly, we haven’t been able to discover a single flaw! Zack was in consideration for Referee of the Month after being here for just two weeks.

If words of affirmation are your love language, your significant other should hope you do not end up with Zack as your referee - because he’s handing out encouragement left and right! “It’s 18-18, both teams are playing great—let’s keep it up!” “You’re improving every game, I love to see it!” The world could use more of that kind of positivity and compassion… honestly, Zack, we’d read your book.

Every new referee gets scheduled to shadow Zack for at least one night, so they can absorb some of his powers. If anyone can pass on the magic, it’s him. He’s an all-around incredible human, and a simple post barely does him justice.
